Students Win First Victory in an Effort to put USA Flags in Campus Buildings!
Editor's Note: Phil's blog entry was promoted to the national blog because it shows how one student asking questions can make a difference. Even if you think you're the lone conservative on campus, you're not. But it may take you standing up against liberal bias and for conservative principles on your campus to find others like you.

The pillars in Gustavus Adolphus College's Cafeteria prominently display twenty-five flags. These flags include a variety of countries, as well as the flag for the United Nations. Unfortunately, what has been missing for years is an American Flag.
When students are asked for their opinion about the issue, most have never even noticed that an American Flag isn't displayed in the building. Others respond indifferently. One student said, "Well there is one outside on the flag pole, why do we need one in here?" However, a few students have raised concern and have been working to rectify this issue.
After discussing this issue with the college president, it is allegedly the case that flags are in the process of being hung in all of the conference rooms in the campus center. Further, three new flags have been ordered for the cafeteria: A Gustavus flag, a Minnesota Flag, and a United States of America Flag.
While this is a small and largely symbolic victory for the Gustavus Campus, it is also seemingly illustrative of the changing spirit of the Institution as it seeks out its roots and attempts to uncover its identity in the new decade.
