The Campus Majority:  Gustavus Adolphus College is an online news blog that was launched in Mid-January of this year.  The site is advertising itself as "The Right Source for News on Campus" and "The Voice for Events Past and Present at Gustavus Adolphus College."

The organizers are using the online site as a pilot project to test the feasibility of launching a full-fledged print edition of a paper that can compete with "The Gustavian Weekly's" monopoly on student news reporting that they have had since the late 1800's.  The purpose of this online trial run is to assemble a team of interested students and give them a chance to prove their ability before making the significant investment in printing and distribution.  One writer said "We want to get our name and brand out their to ensure we have a readership audience and respectability once we try to go live with a print version next fall."

Junior student Phil Cleary said, "This project is really about bringing balance back to the student body" and he emphasized the importance of generating awareness of the existence of differnt opinions and worldviews that exist on campus.

If successful, the "Campus Majority" news reporting group plans to launch a monthly print edition beginning Fall of 2010.  They currently have 30 fans on their brandnew facebook page http://bit.ly/ab4RT9 .  Interested readers can follow them on twitter (http://twitter.com/GACMajority) or go directly to the site at http://campusmajority.blogspot.com/
